thank you! this event was much more fun than i thought. i figured it would be me, alone in the cold fog waiting eternally for a 20sec flyover, but there were hundreds of people along the waterfront! amazing!
actually this was my fallback. i was originally up on the overlook above the bridge, but i didn't like how I was having to shoot into the sun (the flyover time was a window of like 2hr.) so i moved to under the bridge on the other side, and ended up having a better angle when the plane did the flyover of the actual city. i got to this spot at 8am for the 9-1030 flyover window, but i knew where i wanted to be as of a week ago. i was also thinking about a spot on the other side of the bridge shooting towards where i am standing for this shot, but i really wanted to be able to compose with the city in the background instead of the headlands. even tho in this shot you can't see much of the city, there are some with the full iconic skyline. (i have yet to process those images yet tho because with the fog it will be harder to pull the detail and i just haven't had the time needed)

How far in advance did you stake out that spot?

When you finally get around to processing those other images I'd like to see them.
