Oh it's fine. I'm just surprised it's 3 months. Most places are a week or a month. It's just a long time to not really be able to participate. *shrugs*

Agreed. I think a month would be a better length. (And CONGRATS!!)

I do think 3 months is a bit long. 1 month would be fair, IMO.

It creates more room for variety, and that can only be a good thing.

3 months is a long time, not that I ever win LOL so not really to bothered, other than it must be a bit of a nightmare for the mods more than anything.

Also what about my idea from a while ago to have two polls, one for the crowd favourite and one to be judged on technical merit/difficulty? That got a lot of support from other players when we discussed it so its not just me?

Would the one for technical merit be judged by the group mods?

If so, I'm all for it.

If not, it would just be another popularity contest, which is what the crowd favorite competition has been reduced to - a weekly race to see who has the most friends on the social networks willing to come and vote for them.

What do I mean?

Some of us start with 1 vote.

Certain others among us. Not naming names, of course...but certain others "start" with like 15-20 votes.
Legal votes placed by all their near and dear virtual friends I'm sure --but the point and the fact is:

There are a few individuals in this group who could drop their camera in the toilet and still get 20 "buddy votes" and therefore get in the poll --for a photo that would be more appropriate for their Facebook.

I wouldn't let people like that rip me off for money every week if I were LJ.

Three months is long, but why should we care? Unless we're here to use the group as our own private ATM?

I will join the masses and say I think 3 months is a long time. I am not going to lie - there are plenty of places to post photos to share just for fun (and I do), but this comm is a "competition." If I ever won (which I haven't before), I think I would likely lose interest in the community if I can't be allowed to participate for a solid 3 months. I agree a month would be much more reasonable.

Also, I'd just like to suggest that, for fairness, this be a retroactive rule and not only start with crysania4, but also every winner from 3 months back. It wouldn't seem right to be otherwise.

WOW! Three months?! It's kind of too long, isn't it? Maybe one month would be better solution? ;)

I don't participate too often but I do have to agree that 3 months is a very long time. I think 1 month is more reasonable.
